Transport Options
Shuttle Service:
Kohaihai / Heaphy Track - Shuttle runs 1pm and 2pm on demand and all other times by arrangement – bookings are essential.
Wangapeka Track / Karamea Leslie Track - On demand, bookings are essential.
Bus Service:
Karamea to Westport departs 7.30am – pick up from your accommodation
Westport to Karamea departs 11.30am from the Westport I-site
Please note this bus service runs during the following periods:
Monday to Saturday - November to end of April
Monday to Friday - May to end of October
Car/Van Rentals:
Car and van rentals are available for people to hire. This is a great way for people who are travelling in motorhomes and/or travelling without their own transport to explore the Oparara Basin (a height restriction of 2.8 metres is in place at the start of McCallums Mill Road which takes you to the Oparara Basin) and surrounding Karamea area.
Freight/Courier Service:
We have a small freight service to/from Karamea to Westport with pick ups around the Westport area and can also drop off items that connect to other freight/courier services. Please contact us via phone 03 7826 757 or 027 288 6118 for freight enquiries.
Taxi Service – On Demand:
We have options for same day service to Nelson, Golden Bay, Motueka, Westport, Punakaiki and Greymouth. Bookings are essential for this service.
